Pricing
There’s just one model in the Mach-E GT range, which is currently priced at £72,830. That no longer makes the Mach-E seem like a huge bargain as it's risen in price by more than £7,000 in a year. If you’re attached to the bright orange and blue paint options – Cyber Orange and Grabber Blue, to be precise – you’ll add another £1,150 immediately. Black is your only ‘free’ colour choice, white is £800 and everything else over a grand. Yikes. The only other real option is a £995 glass panoramic roof, though; Ford has packed the GT with standard kit so you’ll be unlikely to tip things too far past the £80k mark. It’s worth acknowledging the GT is a whole £20k more than a regular Mach-E, but it still seems like reasonable value. The Blue Oval doing what it does best, even at a more elevated, tech-packed price point.
Running costs
The insurance group is much higher than a stock Mach-E too, mind, edging towards the highest group possible. Given how prodigious its performance is, that’s perhaps understandable. Charging ain’t cheap either, but only because the Mach-E’s battery – and
thus its range figure – is so usefully large. The car and battery warranty are entirely on par for the class, though lagging behind Hyundai, Kia and Genesis, whose electric cars will soon possess circa-500bhp performance variants to tackle the Mach-E head on.
