Ginny Says

“Wow - this is the Mustang we've been waiting for. I've loved fast Fords since I was a kid, and I'm really impressed with the job Ford has done with this. Yes, it's a lot of money for a Ford, but there's no questioning the quality of the car or the performance it delivers.”

Nicki Says

“To be honest, they had me when I heard that it would come in Cyber Orange and Grabber Blue - two of the best car colours in the world! It will be fascinating to see how the GT squares up to the Tesla Model Y Performance when it arrives next year. They're so close on price and performance. ”

When can I get one?

Order books opened for the GT back in July and those lucky enough to have their names on the list will get their cars before the end of the year. If you place an order today, Ford says that deliveries are expected early next year.

Will there be any other Mustang models coming?

The GT completes the Mustang launch range, so no new variants are expected in the near future. That said, Ford has a history of making special editions of its petrol-powered Mustang performance models, so a few limited edition models aren’t out of the question.

What other models should I consider?

At £72,830, the Mustang Mach E GT competes directly with the new Tesla Model Y Performance. If you’re feeling flush, the Porsche Taycan starts from £74,000, but that only gets you the entry-level rear-wheel drive model.

How practical is the Mach E GT?

Very. It sits five in comfort and has a large 402 litre boot and plenty of space for five passengers. It can also tow up to 750kg if you need it to.

If I get my GT this year, will it have the 88kWh battery or the 91kWh battery?

The figure refers to the usable amount of the battery pack rather than the overall size, so can be adjusted via software updates. Car makers always keep a portion of the battery in reserve because running them down to fully empty can shorten their life. Ford has said that analysis of early Mustang Mach E data has shown that they can safely increase the amount of battery than be used for driving the car. Ford say that all 2022 cars will have the 91kWh battery but any launch spec 88kWh models will be updated to 91kWh by a software update.
