Mercedes ignores the trend to create purpose-built electric cars, instead giving us a mini-SUV based on the existing GLA. It's competitive but compromised as a result.

Ginny Says

“If the EQA had have been launched a year ago, it could well have been a class leader. But things move fast in the EV world and it's likely to be seen as an also-ran by the time it's launched.”

Nicki Says

“My favourite part of the bigger Mercedes EQC is the zen-like silence while you are driving. The EQA isn't quite as refined but it is still a relaxing place to be, with more refinement than cars costing three times as much.”

It's based on the GLA petrol/diesel, so is a small family SUV. It's about the same size as something like a Nissan Qashqai.

No, more versions have been announced, In addition to the single electric motor EQA 250 there is now an EQA 300 4MATIC and an EQA 350 4MATIC with two motors.

The EQA 250 has a single motor powering the front wheels only. The EQA 300 4MATIC and an EQA 350 4MATIC with two motors have four-wheel drive.

Will there be other Mercedes electric cars anytime soon?

Oh yes. The EQC is already well established and the EQV has just gone on sale. An electric S-Class will be next followed by an EQB.
