Audi Q4 e-tron range
You’ve three choices in the Q4 e-tron range, and which you go for will determine how many miles you’ll extract from a full charge. The entry-level Q4 e-tron 35 is probably best suited to urban use, with a smaller battery hooked up to a modest 168bhp motor for a WLTP claim of 208 miles.
For better performance – both in terms of range and getting places promptly – you’ll want either the 201bhp 40 or 295bhp 50, both of which use a larger battery and which offer around 300 miles depending on how posh a spec you’ve chosen or whether you’ve opted for the dual-motor 50 and its all-wheel drive.
The peak figure is 316 miles, and you’ll eke out a few more if you go for the more aerodynamic – though pricier – Sportback version.
Audi Q4 e-tron battery
There are two levels of battery depending on how much you’re able (or willing) to spend. The entry-level Q4 e-tron 35 uses a 52kWh battery while the 40 and 50 versions get a 77kWh version and another 50 per cent of range.
As is typical for an electrified SUV, the battery modules are slotted neatly out of the way under the floor, placing passengers higher than in a conventional hatchback, but that’s already something of a selling point in the crossover class.
Audi Q4 e-tron charging
The 52kWh battery allows up to 100kW of charging, while the 77kWh allows up to 125kW. So out on public chargers, you’re probably looking at similar charge times between the two. Which is a charge from 20 to 80 per cent in somewhere between 20 and 40 minutes. It’s hooked up to a wall box at home where the two differ; the smaller battery fills from zero to 100 per cent in a smidge under eight hours, while the larger battery takes just under 12 hours.
