Volkswagen is expanding its coveted ID. range, and has released teaser sketches of its new ID.AERO - which is the manufacturer’s first fully-electric saloon – and is set to rival cars like the Polestar 2 and the Tesla Model 3.

Based on Volkswagen’s Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB), the four-door ID.AERO draws similar styling cues to the rest of the ID. family, like those seen on the ID.4 and the ID. Buzz. An aerodynamically efficient front and roof design will also allow the sleek saloon to reduce energy consumption, increasing range.

The ID.AERO will be available in the Chinese market during the second half of 2023, and while Volkswagen haven’t issued an official release date for the European and North American markets, it has confirmed production will begin in 2023 at its plant in Emden, Germany.

While technical details and pricing estimates are unknown at this point, the digital world premiere of the pre-production model is set for Monday, 27 June, where further information is expected to be revealed.
