Tesla launches swim-while-you-charge facility at German Supercharger site

Tesla has added a new surprising new facility at its Hilden Supercharger site in Germany – a swimming pool. The American brand is planning to expand its supercharger facilities at sites where there are no existing service stations. 

In recent weeks, a new ‘cube lounge’ developed by bk World has appeared in at a Supercharger site in Endsee in Germany and is understood to be the first of a number of planned locations. The cube contains a range of facilities include a cafe, gaming centre, toilets and even a pizza-making machine.

The latest venture, however, takes Tesla into new territory. According to video posted by Tesla YouTuber Tesla Welt Podcast, the Hilden Supercharger, which is now open to all electric car drivers and features 36 250kW stalls and a swimming pool which will be available to drivers throughout August. The pool is open from Thursday to Sunday each week between the hours of 14:00 and 19:00. According to signs placed around the pool, Tesla is encouraging up to four bathers maximum to use the pool for no more than 10 minutes at a time. Although the pool comes with Tesla-branded beachballs, there are no changing facilities on-site.
