Renault has confirmed final UK prices and specifications for its new all-electric Megane E-Tech. The range will start from £35,995 to £39,995, with order books now officially open.

All models are fitted with a 60kWh battery, and a front-mounted motor that produces 217bhp and 300nm of torque. It comes with an official WLTP range of 280 miles and is capable of 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds, with a top speed of 99mph. The motor itself is all new and weighs just 145kg, some 10% less than the unit fitted to the Zoe supermini. The battery pack is just 110 mm tall, making it the thinnest on the market. According to Renault, this gives the electric Megane a lower (by 90mm) centre of gravity compared to the previous, petrol-powered model.

In terms of charging, the Megane can accept a rapid DC charge of up to 130kW, which should mean an 80% charge (which will add around 185 miles) is achievable in around 40 minutes. All models are equipped with an 11kW AC charger as standard.

All versions feature a 12.3-inch dashboard digital display cluster, and a 9-inch infotainment screen with Android Automotive OS. Customers can also communicate remotely with their vehicle using the My Renault App to pre-set various cabin features before a journey, such as the climate control.

The Megane E-Tech comes with between 10 and 26 assistance systems depending on model type – along with four levels of regenerative braking. All models will also feature keyless entry via key-cards, both Android Auto and Apply CarPlay, as well as over-the-air software updates.

The range consists of three trim grades: Equilibre EV260 (£35,995), Techno EV60 (£38,495) and Launch Edition EV60 (£39,995). They are available in six colours, including Glacier White, Flame Red and Midnight Blue, with the option of a contrasting roof design in either Diamond Black or Shadow Grey.

The entry-level Equilibre features 18-inch alloy wheels, full LED headlights, interior ambient lighting, air conditioning, and heated steering wheel and seats. A rear view camera, 12.3-inch instrument cluster and four-speaker Arkamys audio system are also part of the standard specification.

The Techno model adds adaptive cruise control, 20-inch alloy wheels, full adaptive LED headlights with automatic high/low beam and dynamic turn signals. The interior features automatic dual-zone climate control, height and electric lumbar adjustment for both driver and front passenger seats and the full range of Google services via the infotainment system.

The range-topping Launch Edition is exclusive to the UK and comes with 20-inch alloy wheels and what Renault describes as a gold F1 blade. The interior gains a nine-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, smart rear-view mirror and around view 3D camera system.

Customers can also opt to include the £1,170 cost of a home charger into the purchase price of the car. Buyers also receive a Mobilize Charge Pass card that gives access to more 7,000 public charge points in the UK. The locations of these charging points can be access via the onboard navigation system or the My Renault app, which shows additional real-time availability, charging capabilities and pricing.

The Megane E-Tech is available for pre-order now, with first deliveries beginning later this year.
