Polestar positive for Precept production

​Polestar has given its Precept concept car the green light for production. Up to now, you could say the Polestar 1 and 2 models look very Volvoesque - and you'd be right. In the case of the Polestar 1, it was a repurposed Volvo coupe concept car. Now though, the Precept will go into production sporting a look that will distance the Polestar brand from mothership Volvo.

Precept is less Volvoesque than the current models

Before the Precept launches though, we'll see a few of the car's design cues in the next Polestar to launch – the Polestar 3 SUV. Polestar says the Precept was designed as a show car, but thanks to plenty of positive reactions Polestar engineers have worked out how to put it into production.It's a four-door saloon that's 150mm longer than a Tesla Model S, and its sleek lines give it a GT car look. Its size means there's plenty of room for a large battery for long distance cruising a lots of interior space.

Interiors made of fishing nets - will they catch on?

The production car will carry over lots of the concept's focus on using sustainable sourced materials, so expect surfaces made from recycled PET bottles, recycled cork and reclaimed fishing nets. It's not just the materials that are eco-friendly but also where it'll be built. The production car will be screwed together in Polestar's new factory in China which will be carbon-neutral.

The Precept will be built in China, but made of plastics.
