On International Women’s Day, the Electrifying women choose their favourite electric cars

We’re a bit unusual at Electrifying.com. In an industry which is around 80% male dominated, the women of the team outnumber the men almost two to one! From presenting and reviewing, to taking a lead in digital marketing, running the business or managing our communications we have a brilliant group of women helping us to ‘Clear the Air’ around electric cars.

So on International Women’s Day, we thought we’d each choose some of our favourites. After all, women are involved in the final buying decision of 85% of new car sales, an extraordinary statistic that some car makers seem to forget.

Helen Brawn - Chief of Staff

“I have chosen the Porsche Taycan as my favourite. It is the only electric car my children have actually wanted to have their photo taken with. I liked the way it looked too and enjoyed seeing it on my driveway! I found it surprisingly practical, comfortable and fantastic to drive. Well, it is a Porsche!”

Elle Kiai - Director of Communications

“One of the first cars I ever drove was a Fiat 500, so it will always have a special place in my heart - it was fun, easy to drive and surprisingly spacious, and the 500e is no different. I don’t often travel long distances and my parking abilities are questionable, so the compact nature of the 500 means this is the perfect car for me!”

You never forget your first car

Eva Mee - Digital Marketing Analyst

“Living in central London parking and getting around easily are my main concerns, so I’m choosing the Renault Twizy. I don’t need a large range either and it’s one of the most original and fun cars I’ve seen. There’s really nothing else like it on the road!”

“It's difficult to choose a favourite, because it keeps changing! Today I am going for the Audi e-tron GT, because it’s everything we love about the Taycan, but with a slightly cheaper price tag. It drives exceptionally well and the build quality is fantastic. The fast charging means it’s more practical for me. I can’t have a home charger due to where I live, so I have to use public chargers all the time and I don’t like waiting around. Plus, the wheels!”

Such excellent wheels

Nicki Shields - Presenter & Associate Editor

“I’m a BMW girl at heart (blame my dad for that) so it’s no surprise that I absolutely love the i Series. I am choosing the iX because it looks the part. Even my three year old agrees, and has convinced me that the ‘nostrils’ really do breathe fire! It also has a range that (almost) removes my anxiety and it drives more smoothly than a magic carpet. Plus it has crystal centre controls. The definition of luxury!”

The iX is practical too

Ginny Buckley - Founder and CEO

“Being asked to choose my favourite electric car is a bit like being asked to pick my favourite child! There are so many excellent models on sale right now, but I don't think you can underestimate the Kia EV6. Its rivals might be able to match it when it comes to performance, efficiency or space but nothing in this price range - other than its sister car the Hyundai Ioniq 5 - can get close to its charging speeds. I think the ability to charge quickly overshadows everything else when you are on a journey. The EV6 is one of the most researched cars on Electrifying.com and I can see why.”

The favourite child?
