Genesis has announced a tie up with Shell Recharge which the companies say will bring cheaper and easier charging for owners of its GV60 and G80 both home and in public.

Genesis Charging gives customers access to over 300,000 public charging points in more than 35 European countries. Included in the package is a five year IONITY subscription, which gives users energy priced at 24p/kWh – less than many people will be paying for power at home.

A single bill is provided for all charging sessions. The dedicated charging app is a co-branded Genesis and Shell Recharge, and allows owners to view tariffs and track charging sessions, as well as quickly finding the nearest available point.

The companies are working on ‘Plug and Charge’ compatibility, which will allow Genesis drivers the connect without having to use a card or an app, with the car communicating with the charger automatically. This has been used by Tesla on its Supercharger network since it inception and is also being rolled out on Volkswagen Group products, starting with the ID Buzz

Genesis Charging also extends to the home, with an all-inclusive package that features a smart wall box. It allows owners to track and programme their home charging sessions using the Genesis Charging app.

Melanie Lane, CEO for Shell Recharge Solutions Europe said: “We’re excited to support Genesis Motor Europe in their ambitions across the European market and as they continue to grow, we will guide their drivers on their e-mobility journey, supporting their charging needs at home and on the go, driving a low carbon future together.”
