BMW has given a hint of a radical concept car it plans to unveil at next week's Munich Motor Show.

The German firm will pull the covers off its i Vision Circular concept car in less that a week's time, and it's designed to be a bold statement on the future of sustainable motoring in the 2040s.

BMW said the concept will "provide a visionary outlook on the potential of a circular economy and sustainable mobility".

An image shows an angular looking SUV-MPV that is made entirely from recycled and renewable raw materials. In fact the car itself is 100% recyclable.

A shadow is our only hint of the new concept car

Keen to emphasis mobility and climate protection can co-exist, BMW says new production materials and methods will make car usage sustainable.

The concept car's tease comes as BMW commits to significantly cut carbon emissions in the life cycle and production of its vehicles. It aims to slash emissions by up to 40% by 2030 and will do so by using more recycled and re-useable materials – up from 30% to 50%.

BMW also said it is "committed" to a "clear course" to achieve the 1.5 degree temperature target as set out in the 2015 Paris Agreement.

BMW Group CEO, Oliver Zipse, said: "How companies are dealing with CO2 emissions has become a major factor when it comes to judging corporate action. "The decisive factor in the fight against global warming is how strongly we can improve the carbon footprint of vehicles over their entire life span.

"This is why we are setting ourselves transparent and ambitious goals for the substantial reduction of CO2 emissions."
