It has been on sale in the UK since late 2015 and in that period the XC90 T8 has established a strong name for itself as one of the most popular and desirable used SUVs there is, not least because of the low road tax and EV capability it promises.
The cheapest one we’ve found for sale so far is a 2016 model at £35k – that’s a residual value of over 50 per cent after four years, and goes to show just how popular the XC90 still is.
Our advice is to weigh up the pros and cons of new versus used in this context, as you might find its now less expensive per month to finance a new one than it is a pre-owned example, especially when you factor in the benefits of the warranty and dealer support.
That said, the XC90’s reliability record is good so far, with only minor electronic niggles generally being reported. Time will tell if that lasts.
