The XC40 Recharge is a high quality, all-electric SUV that has a good driving range. It's a shame that the first edition versions so uncomfortable on rough roads.

Ginny Says

“I'm a big fan of Volvo, who I think have been through a design revolution. But I just couldn't get on with the all-electric version. I think the lower power models will make a little more sense than the top-spec models, as there's not really any need for it to be this fast and it's uncomfortable on rough roads.”

Nicki Says

“This seems to be a 'right-sized' SUV for me. There's plenty of space, technology and performance but it isn't as unnecessarily large as some of the bigger, more expensive electric SUVs. If you don't want to go full electric it also comes in plug-in and hybrid versions.”

It will be a long time before any used Volvo XC40 Recharges reach the used market, but don’t rule out PHEV versions.

Used Models

The XC40 Recharge already has a waiting list before any customers have had a chance to drive it, so don’t expect there to be many used versions leaking onto the market. There might be a few ex-demonstrators or cancelled orders but expect dealers to be asking top money for them, or even adding a chunk of profit.

If your search for an XC40 Recharge proves fruitless, consider a used example of the plug-in versions of the Volvo XC models which should be available in decent numbers. Alternatively, a used Jaguar I-Pace or Audi e-tron could be in budget.
