Ginny Says

“The size and price of the #1 will come as a bit of a shock to anyone who is used to Smart's city cars. But it seems to have all of the ingredients to be a real contender.”

Tom Says

“I was surprised at how fast the #1 is, and it can really be thrown around too. Just in case you were wondering, they really do pronounce the 'hashtag' part of the name. ”

How big is the Smart #1?

Bigger than you might expect. At 4.2 metres long and 1.8 metres wide, the newcomer is longer than a Volkswagen ID.3 and tips the scales at a hefty 1,820kg.

How much is the Smart #1 going to cost?

Smart has yet to make any announcements relating to price, but given the specification and size, Electrifying.com would expect it to sell for between £32,000 and £38,000 when order books open.

How will the Smart #1 be sold?

There won’t be any direct selling or other crazy ways – it will be sold through existing Smart dealers.

When does the Smart #1 go on sale?

The Smart #1 is set to go though the tests for the European market laws later this year, which would suggest that a UK introduction looks likely for early 2023.

Does the Smart #1 have a frunk?

Yes it does – although it is tiny and you’ll struggle to get the charge cable in, never mind any luggage.

Do you pronounce the hashtag in the Smart #1 name?

According to the bosses, yes you do. Officially this is the “smart hashtag one”. With a lower case S too. Which is tricky to type and autocorrect doesn’t like. If you are typing on a Macbook, you can find the # by pressing the 'fn', 'option' and '3' keys together. It took us a while, so you can thank us later.
