LEVC, or London Electric Vehicle Company, is the current name for the makers of the London Black Cab. We say current because the maker of the iconic British taxi has gone by different names during the past 60 years – The London Taxi Company, London Taxis International, and more. LEVC is owned by Chinese powerhouse Geely – owners of Volvo, Lotus and Lynk & Co among others – and builds the TX black cab and VN5 van near Coventry. The TX and VN5 are not hybrids and they aren’t pure-electrics either – they’re range-extenders which have an electric motor that uses a petrol engine as a generator. The VN5 is one of the most efficient and frugal electric vans you buy.
