Fiat UK has officially opened order books for the new E-Doblo with prices starting from £27,855. The new model is effectively Fiat’s version of the Stellantis mid-size van and is mechanically identical to the Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Vauxhall Combo – all of which are available with electric drive. Toyota’s Proace City van is also based on the same design.
The E-Doblo is fitted with a 50kWh battery that can return up to 175 miles on the WLTP cycle. It also offers charging capabilities up to 100kW, which allows the van to reach 80% charge in 30 minutes when connected to a 100kW+ rapid charger. A full charge from 0-100% on a 7kW wallbox will take around seven hours.
Drivers benefit from three different driving modes: Normal, Eco, Power and B-Mode with each one modifying the vehicle’s driving response and optimising vehicle performance, depending on the job at hand. Normal is recommended for driving under regular, everyday driving conditions. Eco improves the van’s economy, extending the van’s range. Power improves the peak power of the vehicle and should be used when the van has a heavy load, while B-Mode allows for maximum battery regeneration.
The E-Doblo also features new connectivity, infotainment and safety technologies. This includes what Fiat calls its ‘Magic Mirror’, which thanks to two cameras - one under the right rear-view mirror and the other above the rear doors - ensures the driver has three different views (displayed on a five inch digital rear-view mirror) to perform the most complicated manoeuvre in the safest possible fashion. A new Head-Up Display is also available to buyers, ensuring that drivers can monitor all key driving information without taking their eyes off the road. The displays shows key information such as speed, navigation status, speed limits and fuel consumption.
Additional ADAS safety features include Adaptive Cruise Control; adapting the vehicle’s speed to that of the vehicle in front, Lane Keeping Assist; warning the driver if a longitudinal lane marking on the ground is accidentally crossed, and Blind Spot Detection; informing the driver if another vehicle is present in the van’s blind spot.
